Sebastian Rey and Amanda Smith, the center's Community Coordinator, also attended the inaugural LGBTQ Statewide Summit in the fall of 2016 as part of FFL's work with the Out in the South initiative, thanks to a $50,000 grant from the Funders for LGBTQ Issues.

Staff, partners, allies and elected officials gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception to mark the grand reopening of the LGBT Community Center of New Orleans' new home on Broad Street near Washington Avenue in Broadmoor.

Speakers included Sebastian Rey, the center’s President of the Board of Directors, and New Orleans City Council member LaToya Cantrell. FFL is represented on the board by Associate Director of Programs and Planning Tanya M. Gulliver-Garcia. (Also in attendance were Communications Specialist David Lee Simmons and Programs Assistant Madison Braziel.
