FFL partners with City of New Orleans to enhance broadband access in City and Sewerage and Water Board Facilities

Foresite Group and FFL are designing a fiber-optic network that will enable the City of New Orleans to offer a new range of services to meet the growing expectations of citizens in vibrant urban environments. These services could range from new Smart City capabilities that improve public safety, allow for better communication with residents and improve energy efficiency to innovative ways to approach the digital divide.

Wanted: Consultant to help design fiber network in New Orleans

Foundation for Louisiana (FFL) seeks a qualified consultant to plan an institutional fiber network for possible future construction in the City of New Orleans. If built, this network would help meet New Orleans’ goal to serve city-owned and operated buildings and facilities located throughout the 350-square mile city. This new network also would allow the City to: 1) expand its provision of online services to residents; 2) support implementation of Smart City applications; 3) achieve cost efficiencies in daily operations; and 4) help disadvantaged residents to bridge the digital divide via high-speed internet access in city owned and operated facilities.
