COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

About Foundation for Louisiana

Foundation for Louisiana (FFL) is the people’s foundation. We expand opportunity and well-being across the state by investing in local leadership and community-driven solutions to strengthen the conditions that help every Louisianan live a safe, stable, connected, and dignified life.

Founded in 2005 as the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, FFL began by supporting communities as they recovered and rebuilt. Our founders understood that meaningful recovery required more than restoring what had been lost. It also meant addressing longstanding disparities in access, opportunity, and resources that continue to shape life outcomes across Louisiana.

Today, FFL is a statewide philanthropic intermediary that connects resources, relationships, and local knowledge to strengthen communities and expand opportunity. We invest in organizations and initiatives working to improve community safety, economic stability, environmental, climate and racial justice, and Louisiana's vibrant arts and culture. Our work is grounded in the belief that communities have the knowledge, creativity, and leadership to shape their own futures.

We advance this mission through three interconnected strategies:

  • Invest: We provide grants, loans, and other resources to organizations and community-led initiatives across Louisiana, including those that face barriers to traditional philanthropic funding. Through fiscal sponsorship and collaborative funding partnerships, we help local ideas grow, strengthen organizations, and connect resources to community-identified priorities.
  • Build: We strengthen local leadership, organizations, and partnerships through training, technical assistance, and opportunities for collaboration. We bring people together to share knowledge, develop practical solutions, and increase community participation in decisions that affect their lives.
  • Transform: We support lasting improvements in the policies, practices, and institutions that shape opportunity and well-being across Louisiana. By connecting community knowledge with resources and decision-makers, we help strengthen public systems, expand access, and create conditions for communities to thrive.

Since our founding, FFL has invested more than $60 million in over 260 nonprofit organizations across Louisiana. Our approach centers community leadership, responsible stewardship, and meaningful partnerships. We engage residents and local organizations in shaping programs and informing grantmaking decisions because we believe the people closest to their communities should help shape the investments that affect their futures.

We call this freedom work, and we are proud to support it statewide.
