Why give to Foundation for Louisiana?

Changing systems requires dreamers and doers; those who fund movements feed social change.
Your commitment to a more equitable future for Louisiana is matched by Foundation for Louisiana's 15 years of expertise in the landscape of social change nonprofits throughout the state to ensure your gifts make the greatest impact possible.

As your partner in philanthropy, FFL can advise your giving decisions to harness your passion and bring about the change you most want to see in Louisiana. FFL’s donors can choose from any number of available services but become a part of a community invited to gather and connect with local leaders and the larger FFL family throughout the year.

Invest in the future of Louisiana!

The Foundation for Louisiana's $15 million, inaugural endowment campaign coincides with our 15-year anniversary and will position the Foundation as a multi-generational force for justice and equity in Louisiana. This investment will allow us to build an endowment, which will fund FFL’s bold people- and community-centered goals and initiatives into perpetuity, and allow us to build a permanent home to support our work.

Start a Donor-Advised Fund!

A Foundation for Louisiana Donor-Advised Fund allows donors to create an easy to establish, low cost, flexible vehicle for charitable giving as an alternative to direct giving or creating a private foundation. A donor advised fund at FFL may be right if you:

  • Receive a large inheritance or other financial windfall.
  • Need an immediate tax deduction but want to give grants over time.
  • Want a foundation-like structure without the costs and administrative complications.
  • Dislike excess email, mail, and phone solicitations from organizations.
  • Desire expert advice to ensure your contributions are making a difference.
  • Enjoy membership in a community of donors and activists passionate about the South and rooted in a strong sense of shared mission.

Leave a Legacy through Planned Giving!

Estate and gift planning through Foundation for Louisiana is an excellent way to establish your charitable legacy, make a lasting impact, and combat ingrained social injustice for generations to come. If you have already included FFL in your estate plan or named FFL as a beneficiary of an account, please let us know so that we can thank you and direct your gift as you attended. We are grateful for your help in creating a more just and free Louisiana!

Support the launch of new ideas in Louisiana!

FFL delivers fiscal sponsorship to mission-driven projects as they develop innovative responses to unmet community needs throughout Louisiana. Through this work, FFL has supported the launch of new ideas that have had lasting impact on Louisiana. We provide financial and regulatory oversight, plus ongoing training and support. Shared administrative costs across multiple projects lead to overall cost savings for young organizations.

What our donors have to say

“Foundation for Louisiana continues to blow me away with their ability to think creatively and strategically about how to continue moving us all toward greater justice and equity. Their Lead the Coast program to develop grassroots leadership for coastal Louisiana is an ingenious way to build permanent capacity for change for relatively little investment.”

– Allison Plyer

“FFL is all about supporting community based justice. If you are interested in getting resources to organizations on the ground fighting for change, this is the way to do it. Again and again they have proven they have the courage, the dedication, and the passion to help directly impacted people bring about real change.”

 Bill Quigley

“Our support for Foundation for Louisiana in is in recognition of the urgency of this moment around the intersecting crises of COVID-19, racism, economic recession and inequality, as well as climate-related emergencies. What drew us to FFL is the foundational paradigm of addressing structural racial and economic injustice and the community-centered approach that drives your work in climate, prison, and economic justice work. We are also really excited about your place-based, regionally specific grant-making model.”

Tripod Giving

“Through our Covenant Cares Initiative, Covenant United Church of Christ of South Holland is delighted to make a monetary gift to the Foundation for Louisiana (FFL), whose longstanding relief and recovery efforts have been transformative for vulnerable and marginalized communities deeply impacted by the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina and Ida. We proudly support the work of FFL as it is rooted in eliminating the systemic injustices that continuously disrupt the well-being and flourishing of black and indigenous peoples, which are especially exacerbated in times of pandemics, climate crisis and disaster. Ultimately, we believe that such essential work is aligned with the gospel's message of justice, freedom, and liberation for every human being.”
