Rooted in Community. Gathering at a Shared Table.
Twenty years ago, in the wake of disaster, Foundation for Louisiana chose more than recovery.
We chose long-term investment.
We chose community leadership.
We chose to build power.
For two decades, we’ve backed grassroots leaders, strengthened nonprofits, and helped shape policies that move Louisiana forward.
This is more than an anniversary.
It’s a declaration.
We are still here.
We are still building.
And we are not done.
Join us in Baton Rouge and New Orleans as we celebrate 20 years — and set the table for what’s next.
Our Story
Foundation for Louisiana was founded in 2005 following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita — a moment that revealed both deep vulnerability and deep strength across our state.
What began as disaster recovery became something larger.
For 20 years, we have invested in people closest to the challenges, built leadership across Louisiana, and strengthened the infrastructure communities need to shape their own futures.
We have:
- Invested millions in grassroots organizations
- Built leadership pipelines statewide
- Supported resident-led policy change
- Advanced climate resilience and housing stability
- Strengthened community wellbeing and civic power
Sankofa teaches us that we must look back to move forward.
Looking back reminds us how far we’ve come.
Looking forward reminds us the work is not finished.
We gather now at a shared table — rooted in community and committed to what comes next.
Join Us at the Table.
This anniversary is not a gala.
It is a gathering of the people who built this work.
We will come together in:
Baton Rouge
Saturday, March 28, 2026
New Orleans
Saturday, April 11, 2026
Each celebration will feature:
- Community storytelling from leaders across Louisiana
- Recognition of partners and changemakers
- Cultural expression rooted in place
- Real conversation about what the next decade demands
If you’ve been part of this journey — in any way — your seat is waiting.
