Excellence in Black Philanthropy Award 2023

In celebration of Black Philanthropy Month’s uplifting of giving and equity-building in communities of African descent, Foundation for Louisiana will be honoring Black philanthropists in Louisiana with its inaugural Excellence in Black Philanthropy Awards this February. We are accepting nominations for individuals and groups (social aid and pleasure clubs, families, organizations, collectives, etc.) with a demonstrated track record of philanthropy in Louisiana and in service of the state’s Black population. Please note that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will treat financial awards to individuals as taxable income.

Financial Award:

  • Individual - $500
  • Group or organization -  $2,500
  • (Optional) Donation in the awardee’s name to the organization/ mutual aid group of choice

Nomination Guidelines

  • Nominees must demonstrate philanthropy in Louisiana's Black community and reside in Louisiana.
  • Self-nominations are allowed.
  • Nominations will only be accepted through Submittable.
  • Use one submission form per nominee if submitting multiple nominations.
