The Louisiana Justice Fund (LJF) is a pooled fund housed at the Foundation for Louisiana.

We support initiatives and systemic reforms aimed at reducing incarceration rates, improving reentry outcomes, and dismantling barriers to economic mobility, particularly for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities impacted by the criminal legal system.

Our Approach

LJF invests in community-led initiatives and organizations that are working towards transforming the criminal legal system through advocacy, narrative change, and economic mobility.

We focus on deploying resources strategically to drive systemic change and create lasting impact.

Collaboration, capacity building, and strategic advocacy are core values that guide our efforts to bring about lasting change in Louisiana's criminal legal landscape.

Our Strategic Plan

Over the next three years, LJF will focus on three key goals to create lasting impact and promote systemic transformation:

Building and Supporting Infrastructure

Strengthening organizational ecosystems working on criminal justice reform.

Investing in organizations led by BIPOC leaders and those directly impacted by the criminal legal system.

Investing in Narrative Change

Developing and deploying counter-narratives to combat pro-punishment messaging.

Supporting public opinion research, story gathering, and dissemination of impactful messages.

Advancing Economic Mobility

Improving employment opportunities and economic outcomes for formerly incarcerated individuals.

Supporting advocacy for clean slate legislation and reentry services.
