2025 NATIONAL DAY OF RACIAL HEALING
Launched by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation in 2017, the National Day of Racial Healing is a national call to confront the enduring impacts of systemic racism and foster healing, equity, and justice. Observed annually on the Tuesday following Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, this day emphasizes building connections and creating spaces for learning, reflection, and collective transformation.
FFL has embraced the National Day of Racial Healing as a central part of its mission to advance racial justice and equity across the state. As the home of the Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (TRHT) framework in Louisiana since 2016, FFL’s work focuses on addressing the root causes of systemic inequities and empowering communities to envision and create more inclusive futures. By amplifying underrepresented voices, facilitating open dialogue, and providing direct support to grassroots changemakers, FFL fosters community-driven solutions that promote healing and justice.
This year, FFL’s National Day of Racial Healing initiative includes curated virtual programming designed to be accessible to people across the state. Alongside this programming, FFL has awarded over $70,000 in mini-grants to grassroots organizations hosting their own National Day of Racial Healing events.
